Can he get any cuter?

A Monkey's Obsession

Monkey has an obsession with cars. He will probably grow up to be like Jay Leno with owning a ton of cars. It started with a car he played with at Aunt J's, then with a birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa. And has grown into a full blown obsession.
Monkey has to have one one him at all times. He has to take them up to bed with him. He especially likes emergency vehicles (or as he refers to them "car with lights"). If we get lucky enough to see one with its lights one he says "lights mama, I see lights". Then as soon as we pass the car he asks for "more lights mama" (repeatedly, as if I have control over seeing more lights).
He also loves buses, trucks, big machines, motorcycles - really anything that has wheels!
Yesterday we passed the same type of car that Cougar drives, but it was a different color. Matthew noticed it and thought it was Cougar!

Monkey and Mama

These were taken back in December on Monkey's 2nd birthday, I just haven't gotten a cute new recent one of the two of us to share.

Funny pic

Monkey has really started to be interested in the potty. Cougar taught him to take reading materials with him!

Best Friends

Batman and Robin

This is one of my favorite pics of the boys. It perfectly captures their spirit of play. Although if I remember correctly Batman and Robin set out to save the world, not create chaos.

Finding Nemo - Literally

For Easter, Monkey got a watering can with Nemo on it to play with in the bathtub, because he is obsessed with playing with water.

This morning, Monkey was looking at all the DVD's and found the Finding Nemo case. And that's all it was - the case.

Monkey decides he HAS to watch Nemo.

Well, ever since Monkey and I moved in with Cougar and Lion, most of my belongings that I don't use every day have been sitting in the garage, waiting for the perfect free moment to move into the house (when does a full-time working mother of a toddler have any free time - that's another story).

So I tell Monkey, "Ok, let's go to the garage and Find Nemo."

Monkey keeps repeating "Let's find Nemo", as we search the many boxes in the garage.

We can't find it, and we finally give up.

As soon as I walk up the stairs I get an aha moment, and go back down and look in the dvd player that I almost gave away. Sure enough, I find Nemo.

As I am coming up the stairs I yell up to Monkey "I found Nemo!"

It's at that moment that the irony struck me. We found Finding Nemo.

What a funny adventure!

Monkey and Lion

I am so blessed to not only have found Cougar, but that Monkey found Lion!

They are the best of friends. One of my favorite moments is when they hug goodnight or goodbye. They will hug and then usually one of them tips the other one and they fall down. So when the hug starts, Monkey will say "Woah" because he is falling.

The other night we were going to bed, and Lion had just gotten up into bed. So Monkey climbed up to him to give him a hug. Sure enough, Monkey says "Woah" - even though Lion wasn't wrestling with him. Then Lion says "Okay, I'm done."

Playing at Aunt J's

Monkey stayed with Aunt J yesterday afternoon. He had such a blast. The whole way home he kept saying "I want see Aunt J again."

Thanks Aunt J!

Lion's New Adventure

Lion hit a new milestone this week! He slept in his own big boy bed - and slept through the night!
Up until now he had been co-sleeping with Cougar.

Recently, Cougar had bought the boys bunk beds, which we now have them separated and using them as twin beds. Cougar painted their room green and put up a chair rail. Above each of their beds are letters with their initials. The boys room looks great!

I am curious to see how bedtimes with both boys in the room will be now. I half expect to find Monkey in Lion's bed some night!

Taking after his Grandpa

Monkey has his Grandpa's belly laugh. He will laugh so hard, but not make a noise.

I was putting him to bed tonight (notice I say bed and not sleep) and he usually gets very slap happy at bedtime. Something set him off, and here comes the belly laughs.

He laughs so hard that he doesn't even make a noise, just crinkles up his nose and his belly is in spasms.

He totally takes after his Grandpa.

Easter

Yesterday we took the boys to our community's Egg Hunt. Monkey has never been to one before, so I was quite surprised that he knew exactly what to do.

But apparantly I should have taught him that we don't pick up the eggs until the hunt actually begins. The area was roped off, but that didn't stop Monkey from going under the rope and starting to collect eggs!

Afterwards we had a nice brunch at Cougar's brother and sister-in-laws house.

This morning the boys woke up and saw that the Easter Bunny had brought baskets. They were excited about the baskets, but more excited to see that the Bunny had set up an egg hunt inside the house!

About my Monkey

My Monkey

I call him this for many reasons:

His favorite movie is Curious George, which he must watch at least once a day.

He is as mischevious as Curious George.

He has been a monkey for both Halloweens - just oh so fitting.

Cougar and I use the term Monkey See Monkey Do. Whatever Lion does, Monkey wants to do as well.

Welcome to the tales of my Monkey.
