A Monkey's Obsession
Monkey has an obsession with cars. He will probably grow up to be like Jay Leno with owning a ton of cars. It started with a car he played with at Aunt J's, then with a birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa. And has grown into a full blown obsession.
Monkey has to have one one him at all times. He has to take them up to bed with him. He especially likes emergency vehicles (or as he refers to them "car with lights"). If we get lucky enough to see one with its lights one he says "lights mama, I see lights". Then as soon as we pass the car he asks for "more lights mama" (repeatedly, as if I have control over seeing more lights).
He also loves buses, trucks, big machines, motorcycles - really anything that has wheels!
Yesterday we passed the same type of car that Cougar drives, but it was a different color. Matthew noticed it and thought it was Cougar!

Finding Nemo - Literally
For Easter, Monkey got a watering can with Nemo on it to play with in the bathtub, because he is obsessed with playing with water.
This morning, Monkey was looking at all the DVD's and found the Finding Nemo case. And that's all it was - the case.
Monkey decides he HAS to watch Nemo.
Well, ever since Monkey and I moved in with Cougar and Lion, most of my belongings that I don't use every day have been sitting in the garage, waiting for the perfect free moment to move into the house (when does a full-time working mother of a toddler have any free time - that's another story).
So I tell Monkey, "Ok, let's go to the garage and Find Nemo."
Monkey keeps repeating "Let's find Nemo", as we search the many boxes in the garage.
We can't find it, and we finally give up.
As soon as I walk up the stairs I get an aha moment, and go back down and look in the dvd player that I almost gave away. Sure enough, I find Nemo.
As I am coming up the stairs I yell up to Monkey "I found Nemo!"
It's at that moment that the irony struck me. We found Finding Nemo.
What a funny adventure!
